Carnival Cruises Eastern Caribbean

Carnival Cruises Charleston offers 6-night Eastern Caribbean cruise itineraries. Carnival Cruises from Charleston will visit Nassau, Freeport and Key West. There are a handful of 7-night Eastern Caribbean sailings being offered by Carnival Cruises from Charleston during the months of May, July, August and September. The port calls on the 7-night Carnival Cruise Charleston itineraries includes Nassau, Grand Turk and Half Moon Cay (Carnival's private island). Tips: Carnival Cruise Charleston's lowest prices are generally from September through November. Editorial Note: Carnival's marketing the itinerary as "Eastern Caribbean" is a stretch. The ports of call are typically featured on Bahamas cruises. One other note, the Carnival Fantasy is the oldest ship in the Carnival fleet. It has been well maintained (major refurbishment in 2008) and kept up to date, it is not representative of some of Carnival's top ships built in the past decade. The section on Alternate Cruise Ports gives advice on which ports features Carnival's newer ships.

Cruise Tips for Carnival Cruises from Charleston

Flight Arrival and Departure Times

If you are flying in to Charleston International Airport (CHS) on the day of your cruise make sure you allow plenty of time to get to the ship. Carnival recommends arriving in to CHS by 3:00 PM at the latest on the day of embarkation. After your cruise, your flight should not leave before 1:00 PM. (December 2010)

Parking at the Port of Charleston

The Charleston cruise terminal has secure indoor and outdoor parking. For a 5-night cruise be prepared to pay $80 to park. Payment is due as you enter the parking lot. There are shuttles to take you to the port. (October 2010)

Other Parking options for the Port of Charleston

If you are arriving by car the night before your cruise, several of the hotels in the area may let you leave your car in their lot while you cruise. However, you will need to stay at least one night before your cruise – look for "Park 'n Stay" rates advertised by the hotel. These hotels usually have a shuttle to take you to and from the cruise port. (updated February 2011)

Getting from Charleston Airport (CHS) to the Port of Charleston

It is a short taxi ride from the airport (about 20 minutes) to the port. The cost, with tip, shouldn't exceed $40. Carnival has not yet published 2010 transfer information / pricing from Charleston Airport. (July 2010)

Online Check-in for your Carnival cruise

Complete the FunPass check-in online at least 3 days prior to your cruise. This will speed up check-in for your Carnival Cruise from Charleston. (December 2010)

Required Travel Documentation

As of June 1, 2009 U.S. Citizens on closed-loop cruises (cruises that start and end from the same port) can still cruise with a birth certificate and government-issued photo ID (children only need a birth certificate). Passports are required if you have to leave the cruise early and fly back to the U.S. Passports may also be required depending on the country your ship is visiting. Be sure to check the U.S. State Department's web site for up-to-date information. (updated February 2011)
