Flight Arrival and Departure Times
If you are flying in to Honolulu International Airport (HNL) the day of your cruise, you needn't be worried if your flight is delayed. The ship stays at the dock in Honolulu on the first day of your Carnival Cruise from Honolulu and acts as a floating hotel. (updated February 2011)
From Honolulu International Airport (HNL) to the Cruise Port
There are many shuttle companies and taxis that you can use to get to the cruise port which is 15-20 minutes from the airport. Cruise Line transfers are $26 per person each way from HNL. The taxi fare should be around $30, with tip – a better bargain for two people. You can probably do even cheaper if you shopped for a shuttle service ($10-$15 per person). But, the cab is the best value for speed and convenience. (updated October 2010)
Online Check-in for your Carnival cruise
Complete the FunPass check-in online at least 3 days prior to your cruise. This will speed up check-in for your Carnival Cruise from Honolulu. (updated July 2010)
Boarding Time for Carnival Cruises out of Honolulu
Boarding for your Carnival cruise starts at 1:00 PM at the Port of Honolulu. If possible get there early to avoid the lines. The ship overnights in Honolulu to allow you to use the ship as a hotel and does not depart until the following evening. (updated February 2011)
Required Travel Documentation
As of June 1, 2009 U.S. Citizens on closed-loop cruises (cruises that start and end from the same port) can still cruise with a birth certificate and government-issued photo ID (children only need a birth certificate). Passports are required if you have to leave the cruise early and fly back to the U.S. Passports may also be required depending on the country your ship is visiting. Be sure to check the U.S. State Department's web site for up-to-date information. You do not need a passport to fly to Honolulu; however you will need a passport to fly or drive from Vancouver or Ensenada back to the US. (updated January 2011)
